Judicial and Governmental Affairs

The mission of Judicial and Governmental Affairs is to streamline communication, enhance relationships, and foster innovations with all Governmental and Judicial partners involving the Georgia Department of Corrections.

The Following Units fall under Judicial and Governmental Affairs:

• Legislative Affairs
• Court Services

LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS: The Legislative Liaison promotes legislative and policy priorities of the Georgia Department of Corrections, and serves as the primary contact with members of the Georgia General Assembly.

COURT SERVICES: Court Services works closely with Judicial Circuits, Sheriff’s Department and other Government Agencies to assist with legal proceedings pertaining to offenders in GDC custody; to include Court Production Orders, Attorney Legal Conferences and Video Hearings. Court Services partners with the Courts, and other Agencies, to continuously improve processes that will reduce unnecessary transports of offenders through virtual appearances in accordance with the Superior Court Uniform Rule 9.2.
