Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons

On October 4 at Wilcox SP, the Abbeville Police Department conducted a traffic stop and vehicle search near the facility. The vehicle was occupied by civilians Jayvon Cannady and Emmarrion Murray. During the vehicle search, the following contraband was recovered: 1 drone battery, 1 drone controller, and an unknown amount of marijuana. Civilians Cannady and Murray were arrested and taken to the Abbeville Police Department. GDC Canine Unit conducted a search near the facility and located the following contraband: 1 pound of marijuana and 1 bottle of promethazine syrup.

On October 5 at Hays SP, security staff located 4 1-gallon bottles wrapped in black electrical tape near the facility fence line.  Later in the evening, Chattooga County Sheriff's Office apprehended 3 Civilians, Quincy Harris, David Anderson, and Shameka Mitchell, near the facility, who were transported to Chattooga County jail with pending charges.  

On October 13 at Hancock SP, security staff observed an unknown subject jumping over the fence. Security staff responded and recovered 2 large black bags. The Hancock Sheriff Department was notified to conduct a search of the area and located the following: 24 vapes, 30 packs of gummies, 1 pack of medicated gummies, 3 packs of edibles, 30 blunt wraps, 36 mini bottles of Vodka, 51 lighters, 4 cellphones, 1 ski mask, 18 packs of cigarettes, 150 individual cigars, 3,403 grams of tobacco, 3 backpacks, 4 personal cellphones and 1 personal tablet. Hancock County Sheriff's Department searched the area, and Derontre Sumlin, Apau Emmanuel Dennis, Albert Lee Jacobs, and Malik Dominique Lowe were arrested. A search of their vehicle was conducted, and the sheriff officers found 2 guns and 2 gun magazines.

On October 25 at Calhoun SP, the Calhoun County Sheriff's Department conducted a traffic stop and vehicle search near the facility. Civilians Tajh Williams and Deron Gates occupied the vehicle. Upon searching the car,  1 drone and a package wrapped in grey tape were confiscated. Civilians Williams and Gates were arrested and taken to Calhoun County Sheriff's Office.
