Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Facilities

On January 4 at Wilcox SP, the Abbeville Police Department noticed a vehicle near the facility occupied by civilian Xavion Washington and conducted a vehicle search. During the vehicle search, 1 firearm was located. Civilians Steven Zuleta and Micah Clinton were observed in the Woodline, and Civilian Steven Zuleta was in possession of a firearm. Civilians Washington, Zuleta, and Clinton were arrested and taken to the Abbeville Police Department. After the arrest, security staff observed a package inside the fence line. The contraband consisted of 10 vape pens, 40 packs of cigarettes, 3 chargers, 2 charging blocks, 75 cigars, 7 hair clippers, 1 bottle of clipper oil, 2 clipper brushes, 2 pair of pants, and 2 backpacks.

On January 9 at Dooly SP, the GDC Canine Unit observed two civilians in the wood line near the facility and notified Dooly County Sheriff's Office for assistance. The civilians were identified as Roger Jackson and Ferell Hall. A duffle bag was confiscated, and the following contraband was found: 1941 grams of marijuana,138 grams of MDMA, 586 grams of tobacco, 1 bottle of tequila, 3 bottles of Promethazine, 1 earbud, 1 pair of shoes, 9 cellphones, 12 charging cords, and 1 stocking cap.

On January 16 at Calhoun SP, security staff observed 2 packages near the facility. GDC Canine Unit and Calhoun County Sheriff's Office were called for assistance. Staff responded to the area and recovered 2 bundles wrapped in black tape. The recovered contraband consisted of 12,833 grams of tobacco, 2,577 grams of marijuana, 8 cellphones, 9 McChicken sandwiches, 42 rolling papers, 2 packs of THC gummies, 1 hammer, and 1 utility saw. Civilian Oubntrez Wilson and civilian Deshati Campbell were apprehended during a search of the area.

On January 16 at Rogers SP, security staff observed an unknown near the facility. GDC Canine Unit and Tattnall County Sheriff's Office were notified for assistance. GDC Canine Unit staff apprehended Civilian Paul Kerwin Williams with the following contraband: 1 cellphone, 882.5 grams of tobacco, 2 lighters, and 1 pocket knife.
