Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,654 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On February 20 at Smith State Prison, a drone was sighted flying over the facility. A vehicle was observed near the facility where a drone and package was recovered. Civilians Andre Smith and John Williams were arrested and transported to Tattnall County Jail.

On February 20 at Dooly SP, an individual was seen near the facility’s woodline. A search found Civilian Javier Sanchez with a bookbag of unknown contraband. Sanchez was arrested and transported to the Dooly County Jail.

On February 20 at Calhoun State Prison, a drone was spotted flying near the facility and a package of contraband was located. A traffic stop was conducted, and the vehicle was searched revealing contraband and a drone. Civilians Ezekiel Jean, Jerry Adams, and Pashard Campbell were arrested and transported to the Calhoun County Jail.

On February 18 at Telfair State Prison, a drone dropped the following contraband at the facility: marijuana, tobacco and cell phones. A traffic stop later found an individual responsible for the drop. The unknown individual was arrested and transported to the Telfair County Jail.

On February 16 at Dodge State Prison, individuals were observed near the facility. Three individuals were found with a loaded gun and marijuana. All three unknown individuals were arrested and transported to the Dodge County Jail.

On February 14 at Arrendale State Prison, civilian Robin Finnie was searched upon entering the facility’s entrance. A search found cigarettes on her persons. Finnie was arrested and transported to the Habersham County Jail.
