Contraband Arrest at Baldwin State Prison

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,959 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On December 1 at Baldwin State Prison, an individual was observed parked in a vehicle near the facility’s perimeter. Milledgeville Police Department and the GDC Canine Unit were notified. A search of the perimeter and vehicle found 4 footballs packed with the following contraband: cigars, cellphones, chargers, rolling papers, tobacco, and marijuana. Civilian Hernando Waters was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.
