Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,631 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.

On January 14 at Baldwin State Prison, a person was seen behind the facility. A search found civilian Michael Sims with a bundle of unknown contraband. Sims was arrested and transported to the Baldwin County Jail.

On January 11 at Dooly State Prison, two individuals were seen attempting to throw contraband over the fence. Both suspects were arrested. A search found the following contraband on facility grounds: rolling paper, cigarettes, cigars, lighters, cell phones, marijuana, tobacco, chargers, and earbuds. Both suspects were arrested and transported to the Dooly County Jail.
