Shawn Sikes Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Shawn Sikes, Facility Regional Operations Coordinator at Jenkins Correctional Facility to Statewide Transitional Center (TC) Coordinator, effective January 1, 2025. As TC Coordinator, Sikes is responsible for the supervision and support of the daily operations of the state's 13 transitional centers.

"Sikes has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities and gained invaluable correctional knowledge in each role he has held with the agency," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident he will continue to uphold the mission as he brings his expertise to his new role as Statewide Transitional Center Coordinator."

Sikes joined the department in 2002 as a Counselor at Smith State Prison (SP). During his tenure at Smith SP, he was promoted to Chief Counselor and Unit Manager. In 2012, Sikes was promoted to Deputy Warden at Emanuel Women's Facility, and in 2016, he was promoted to Superintendent at the Long Unit. Later that year, he was promoted to Facility Regional Operations Coordinator at Jenkins Correctional Facility, where he currently serves. 

Sikes received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Georgia Southern University. His department training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Advanced Management Training, Correctional Leadership Institute, Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, and Warden's Pre-Command.
