New Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at the Special Management Unit
Torika Nash Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Torika Nash, Chief Counselor at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP) to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at the Special Management Unit effective October 16, 2024. As Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, Nash is responsible for overseeing the delivery of educational programs, health services, library services, counseling programs, recreational services, and the mental health services of male offenders at the facility.
“Torika has been a devoted team member for nineteen years, and has consistently displayed exceptional leadership qualities,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to seeing her continue to excel as she takes the next steps in her professional career.”
Nash began her career with the GDC at GDCP in 2006 as a Behavioral Health Counselor II. In 2017, she was promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor II, and in 2021, she was promoted to Chief Counselor, where she served until her most recent promotion.
Nash earned her bachelor’s degree in social work from Clark Atlanta State University. Her departmental training consists of Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, Initial Counseling Training, Effective Communications Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Management I, II, and III.
