New Executive Director of Georgia Correctional Industries

Brian Sherrod Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Brian Sherrod from Deputy Executive Director to Executive Director of Georgia Correctional Industries (GCI), effective July 16, 2024. As Executive Director, he will be responsible for business processes, sales and marketing, and administrative support for their operations covering manufacturing, food service and agribusiness.

“Brian has a wealth of knowledge and experience that has been crucial to the ongoing success of the staff at GCI, and to the continued success of the offenders taking advantage of opportunities to enhance their employability upon release” said Commissioner Oliver. “We look forward to his continued success as he takes on this new role.”

Sherrod honorably served 20 years with the United States Air Force where his responsibilities included Program Management, Technical Instructor, and Major Command Functional Manager. Throughout his military career, he achieved numerous awards and decorations. Following his military retirement in 2017, Sherrod joined Greif Brothers, Inc., overseeing the company’s largest North America industrial packaging manufacturing operation in Houston, Texas.  Sherrod began his career with GCI in 2023 as the Deputy Executive Director, where he currently serves.
