Director of Public Affairs: Joan Heath
Increases Current Bed Capacity to Twenty-Two
FORSYTH, Ga. – Earlier this month, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at Augusta State Medical Prison for an expanded, state-of-the-art Dialysis Center within the facility. Today, the 22-bed Center officially opened its doors, and will increase current bed capacity for dialysis services by 11 beds, providing space for 60 patients to receive services daily.
"We are pleased to be able to provide dialysis patients with more efficient services and care tailored to meet their individual needs within this new facility," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "Our staff and our partners at CharDonnay Dialysis have done an exceptional job in ensuring our commitment to high-quality care in a patient-centered environment continues."
On average, there are approximately 55 offenders who receive dialysis treatment each day, with an average of three hours to complete the process per individual. The Center will now operate six days per week with two shifts and will offer a much larger work and treatment environment, improving the overall experience for patients and staff.
