Jessie Williams Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Jessie Williams to Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility (WF) effective March 1, 2023. As Warden, Williams will be responsible for overseeing 122 staff at the facility and approximately 415 female offenders.

“Jessie has been an outstanding leader in each position she has held with the agency,” said Commissioner Oliver. “Her training and experience will serve her well in her new role as Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility.”

Williams began her career with GDC in 1994 as a Correctional Officer at Smith SP. In 2007, she was promoted Sergeant, and to Lieutenant in 2011. Williams served as a member of the TACT Squad from 2003 to 2014.  In 2014 she was promoted to Unit Manager at Smith SP and in 2016 she was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Long Unit followed by her promotion to Superintendent in 2018 where she currently serves.

Williams’ departmental training includes: Warden’s Pre-Command, Deputy Warden’s Pre-Command, Professional Management Program, Motivational Interviewing, Effective Communication, Basic Management Training, Basic Correctional Officer Training, Hostage Negotiator Training, Supervision I, II, and II, and Management I, II, and III.
