Nicholas Brown Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Nicholas Brown to Deputy Warden of Security at Central State Prison (SP) effective February 1, 2023. As Deputy Warden of Security, Brown will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,100 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

"Brown has demonstrated a strong work ethic and exceptional leadership skills," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that he will continue to excel in his new position at Central SP."

Brown began his career with the GDC in 2008 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison (GDCP). During his tenure at GDCP, he was a member of the CERT team, promoted to Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. In 2018. he was promoted to Unit Manager at Burruss Correctional Training Center, where he currently serves. 

Brown received his bachelor's degree in Law Enforcement from Thomas University. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Special Operations (CERT/TACT) Basic Training, Sergeants Academy, Professional Management Training through Columbus State University, Management I, II, and III, Supervision I, II, and III, Unit Manager Academy, POST Instructor Training, and Deputy Warden of Security Training.
