Candice Morrison-Brooken Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Candice Morrison-Brooken to Assistant Superintendent at Patten Probation Detention Center (PDC), effective February 1, 2023. As Assistant Superintendent, Morrison-Brooken will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising approximately 252 male detainees.

The correctional experience and knowledge Candice brings to each of her positions has been exceptional," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident in her leadership abilities as she continues upholding the GDC mission at Patten PDC.” 

Morrison-Brooken began working for the Department of Juvenile Justice in 2004. During her 12-year tenure, she served as a Juvenile Probation Parole Specialist and Facility Director at the Albany Regional Youth Detention Center. In 2016, she joined the GDC at Valdosta SP as a Behavioral Health Counselor II and rose through the ranks of Behavioral Health Counselor III and Mental Health Counselor II. In 2018, she was promoted to Business Support Analyst 1 at Valdosta SP, where she currently serves.  

Morrison-Brooken received her Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Clark Atlanta University and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy State University. Her departmental training consists of Basic Counselor Training, Grievance Training, and PREA Compliance Manager Training.
