Michael Goettie Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the reassignment of Michael Goettie to Deputy Warden of Security at Rogers State Prison (SP) effective January 16, 2023. As Deputy Warden of Security, Goettie will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 1,384 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

"Goettie is a dedicated leader who has worked his way up through the ranks," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "His knowledge in the field of corrections will continue to benefit our agency as he takes on his new role at Rogers SP."

Goettie began his career with the GDC in 2010 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia SP. During his tenure, he was promoted through the ranks of CERT Sergeant, Lieutenant, Recruitment Lieutenant, and Unit Manager. In 2020 he was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Calhoun SP, where he currently serves.

Goettie's departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Mandated Peace Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Supervision I, II and III, Management I, II and III, Field Training Officer, and POST Instructor Training.
