Lakisha Franklin Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Lakisha Franklin to Deputy Warden of Security at Johnson State Prison (SP) effective April 16, 2022. As deputy warden of security, Franklin will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and over 1,600 medium-security male offenders.

“Franklin has demonstrated a strong work ethic and leadership skills,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident she will continue to excel in her new role at Johnson SP.”

Franklin began her career with the GDC in 2006 as a Behavioral Health Counselor at Autry SP.  In 2015, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at Pulaski SP, and in 2018 she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Johnson SP, where she currently serves.

Franklin received her Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Valdosta State University and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a concentration in Public Administration from Albany State University.  Her departmental training consists of Basic Management Training, Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Academy, Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Counseling Training, and Peer Mentor Support Training.
