Jeanie Kasper Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Jeanie Kasper to Warden at Walker State Prison (SP), effective January 1, 2021. As Warden, Kasper will be responsible for 200 detainees at the Northwest Residential Substance Abuse Treatment (RSAT) Facility, overseeing 127 staff members, and 465 male offenders at the Department’s first and only Faith & Character Based facility.

“Kasper has shown exceptional leadership skills in each position she has held throughout her 22 year career,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are thankful for her dedication and look forward to her continued success in her new position as Warden at Walker SP.”

Kasper began her career with the Department in 1999 as a Counselor at Walker SP, after serving five years with the Department of Family and Children Services. In 2000, she was promoted to Senior Counselor, and then to Chief Counselor in 2002.  In 2004, she was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, where she currently serves.

Kasper holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.  She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, Advanced Management Training, and Leadership GDC.
