Tyrone Rozier Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tyrone Rozier to Deputy Warden of Security at Dodge State Prison (SP), effective December 1, 2020. As Deputy Warden of Security, Rozier will be responsible for overseeing approximately 156 security staff members and 1236 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

“Rozier has shown exceptional leadership skills in each position he’s held within the department,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “His training and experience will serve him well in his new role.”

Rozier began his career with the GDC in 1999 as a Correctional Officer (CO) at Wilcox SP, and in 2001, he transferred to Dodge SP as a COII.  During his tenure at Dodge SP, he held various positions to include CERT member, Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain.  In November 2016, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Wilcox SP where he also served as an Audit team member and Hostage Negotiator.  Rozier transferred back to Dodge SP as Unit Manager in 2019, where he currently serves.

Rozier is currently pursuing his Associates degree in Criminal Justice from Georgia Military College. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program, AIC Auditor Certification, Supervision I, II and III, and Management I, II and III.
