Michael Paschal Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Michael Paschal to Deputy Warden of Security at Augusta State Medical Prison (ASMP), effective January 1, 2021. As Deputy Warden of Security, Paschal will be responsible for supervising and managing approximately 190 security staff members and 1840 medium-security male offenders at the facility.

“Paschal has worked his way up through the ranks from Correctional Officer to Deputy Warden,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “I am excited to see him join the team at ASMP and share his correctional knowledge with staff and offenders.”

Paschal began his career with the GDC in 2008 as a Correctional Officer (CO) at Hancock State Prison (SP).  In 2012, he was promoted to Sergeant at Baldwin SP, and then transferred back to Hancock SP in the Maintenance Department.  In 2014, he transferred to a Correctional Officer position, and rose through the ranks of Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Unit Manager, where he currently serves.  

Paschal has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Supervision I, II and III, Advance Management Training, and Commander Training.
