Sheneca King Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Interim Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Sheneca King to deputy warden of security at Dooly State Prison (SP) effective February 16, 2019. As deputy warden of security, King will share responsibility for supervising and managing approximately 148 security staff members and 1,700 medium security male offenders.

“With King’s 17 years of correctional experience, we are confident that she will be an asset to Dooly SP,” Ward said. “We appreciate her dedication and look forward to her continued success.”

King joined GDC in 2002 as a correctional officer at Rivers SP.  During her tenure at Rivers SP she was promoted to sergeant and lieutenant.  She also served as a lieutenant at Men’s/Bostic SP and Central SP.  In 2011, she was promoted to Captain (Chief of Security) at Central State Prison and in 2011 was promoted to unit manager, where she currently serves.

King received her associate degree in criminal justice from Kaplan University and is currently pursuing her bachelor’s degree.  She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Advanced Management Training, Management I II & II, and the Professional Management Program.
