Inmate Death Being Investigated as Apparent Suicide

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Dodge State Prison in Chester, Ga., as an apparent suicide.
On September 9 at approximately 1:50 p.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Albert Jones (GDC #1134074) unresponsive in his cell. The facility’s medical staff responded to the unit and administered CPR. At 1:55 p.m., Emergency Medical Services was called to assist. Jones was pronounced deceased at 3:17 p.m. by the Dodge County Coroner. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.
Jones was sentenced to seven years in Chatham County for burglary, with a maximum release date of 2020.
