Sharon Shaver Awarded CCE from ACA

FORSYTH, Ga. – Sharon Shaver, Director of Compliance in the Office of Professional Standards at the Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC), recently earned the Certified Corrections Executive (CCE) designation from the American Correctional Association (ACA).

The American Correctional Association Certification Program is designed to advance the overall level of professionalism in the corrections field, helping to ensure that those who obtain a CCE are aware of the most current and innovative approaches. It promotes the capabilities of correctional professionals to the general public and enhances society’s image of Corrections personnel.

“I applaud Sharon’s efforts in taking the initiative to complete this certification,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “As our agency is working toward accrediting our facilities, having a CCE directing the ACA efforts speaks well for our commitment to the process.”

With 22 years of experience in state government and Corrections, Shaver has served in numerous leadership positions. In her current role as Director of Compliance, she is responsible for providing oversight and direction to professional staff for facility assessments, accreditation, American Disabilities Act, Prison Rape Elimination Act programs, and policy administration for the agency.

The CCE designation is an indication of demonstrated professionalism involving such activities as supervising human resources, possessing and demonstrating leadership skills, managing change, maintaining operational oversight, and general knowledge concerning the field of corrections. It is the highest certification offered by ACA.
