FORSYTH, Ga.– Special Agents with the Georgia Department of Corrections’ (GDC) Office of Professional Standards are conducting an investigation into the death of Ware State Prison inmate Marquis Walker (GDC #1001981464), as a suspected homicide.

Agents have reason to believe Walker died as a result of injuries sustained during an altercation involving another inmate. Inmate Walker was transported to the local hospital where he was pronounced dead at 10:53 a.m.

Walker was sentenced in 2016 in Richmond County, for Burglary and Forgery in the second degree, and had a maximum release date of 2030.
