New Deputy Warden of Security at Baldwin State Prison

Michael Kendrick Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Michael Kendrick to Deputy Warden of Security at Baldwin State Prison, effective April 1, 2018. As the Deputy Warden of Security, Kendrick will be responsible for overseeing 282 staff members and 954 close-security male offenders.

“Kendrick has been an outstanding leader in each position he has held within the Department.” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are looking forward to watching him grow and continue to excel in his new role.”

Kendrick began his career with the GDC in 1999 as a Correctional Officer at Hancock State Prison. During his tenure, he served on the Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT) and as Assistant Commander on the Tactical Squad.  In 2007, Kendrick was promoted to Sergeant and in 2012 he was promoted to Lieutenant.   Later that year, he was promoted to Unit Manager, where he currently serves.

Kendrick has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Basic Management Training (BMT), the Professional Management Program (PMP), Advanced Management Training (AMT), Sergeants Academy and Deputy Warden of Security Training.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
