Aimee Smith promoted    

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Aimee Smith to Warden of Lee Evidence Based Prison, effective July 1, 2017. As Warden, Smith will be responsible for overseeing 190 staff members and 728 special mission male offenders.

“Aimee has been a great asset and team player to the Department,” said Commissioner Dozier. “I have no doubt that she will continue her exceptional service with us as Warden for Lee Evidence Based Prison.”

In 1995, Smith began her Corrections career as a Correctional Officer at Wilcox State Prison. In 1997, Smith transferred to Burruss Correctional Training Center as a Correctional Officer II and was later promoted to Sergeant in 2000. Smith was transferred in 2002 to Dodge State Prison as a Sergeant. In 2004, Smith was promoted to Lieutenant at Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison. She was selected as Captain at Metro State Prison in 2006, where she began her career with female offenders. In 2010, Smith was promoted to Deputy Warden of Security at Pulaski State Prison, where she currently serves.

Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 52,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
