Meosha McMillan promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Meosha McMillan to Warden at Emanuel Women’s Facility, effective July 1, 2016. As Warden, McMillan will be responsible for overseeing 80 staff members and 415 medium security female offenders. 

“Meosha has experience in a variety of areas within the corrections field that will greatly benefit her in her new role,” said Commissioner Bryson. “We are eager to see her excel in her new position at Emanuel Women’s Facility.”

McMillan began her career with the Department in 2003 as a Probation Officer I/II in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. In 2006, she was promoted to Inmate Classification Examiner in the Offender Administration Unit. She was then promoted to Diagnostic Unit Manager, in 2008, at Metro State Prison. In 2010, McMillan was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at the same facility. In 2011, following the closure of Metro State Prison, she was assigned to serve as Assistant Superintendent at Clayton Transitional Center. She was promoted, in 2013, to Superintendent of Macon Transitional Center. In 2014, McMillan was promoted to Private Prison Monitor at Jenkins Correctional Facility, and she transferred in 2015 to the Riverbend Correctional Facility to serve the same capacity.    

McMillan holds a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Criminal Justice from Georgia State University, a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Shorter College, and a Master of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Cincinnati. McMillan has completed the following departmental training courses: Basic Probation Officer Training; POST IT, Basic Management Training (BMT), Corrections Leadership Institute (CLI), Sex Offender Training, Basic Accounting, and Wardens and Chiefs Pre-Command.
