Breanna Bradley Honored

FORSYTH, Ga. — The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) presented Breanna Bradley of the Central Dekalb Probation Office with the Tiffany Bishop Horizon Memorial Award at the 11th Annual GDC Awards ceremony on July 7 at the State Offices South at Tift College in Forsyth, Ga.

“Breanna has exhibited outstanding work ethic in her short time with the Department,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson.  “We are extremely proud to honor her with the Tiffany Bishop Horizon Award.”

The Tiffany Bishop Horizon Award was created to honor the memory of Probation Officer Tiffany Bishop of the Rome Probation Office. Officer Bishop was beginning her career with the Department when she was tragically taken from us on August 31, 2011. The award sets out to honor her dedication to her job and her community, and the lasting effect her bright spirit and determination had on those around her in always going above and beyond the call of duty, and always inspiring others to be the best they can be.   

Breanna Bradley served as a Probation Officer from June 2014 to June 30, 2015 with GDC, then transferred to the Georgia Department of Community Supervision where she still serves in this capacity. In her short time with the Department, she has consistently displayed a model work ethic, a positive attitude, and a refreshing eagerness to gain experience and learn best practices. As a new employee with more than 450 active offenders, Officer Bradley has approached her caseload with an exceptional work ethic. She displays a genuine concern for the success of the probationers. Her performance is an example of her achieving the Department’s mission of effectively managing offenders and providing opportunities for positive change while also meeting the goals within the office.

Several key officials were on hand for the ceremony, which was attended by more than 200 guests. Making the award presentation with Commissioner Homer Bryson were Assistant Commissioner of Administration & Finance Division Scott Poitevint, Assistant Commissioner of Facilities Division Timothy C. Ward, and Board of Corrections Chair Rose Williams.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 10,500 employees.
