Sharon Luckett Promoted

FORSYTH, GA. — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Sharon Luckett as Director of Financial Services effective January 16, 2015. As Director, Luckett will be responsible for the accurate reporting of the Department's financial transactions which includes the primary areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll.

“Sharon has worked her way up through the ranks in her 15 years with the Department,” said Commissioner Brian Owens.  “Her years of experience in the department of Financial Services will assist her greatly in her new role as Director.”

Luckett began her career with the Department in 2000 as an Accountant II in Financial Services within the Administration division. In 2002, she was promoted to Accounting Manager I over Accounts Payable. Luckett was later promoted to Accounting Manager II in 2006, where she most recently served.

Luckett earned two Bachelor’s degrees; one in Accounting/Mathematics and the other in Education from Missouri Baptist University. She has completed Basic Management Training and Corrections Leadership Institute.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners
and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
