Several organizations to Participate

Forsyth The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) in conjunction with the Georgia National Guard will host several law enforcement and public safety agencies for a military personnel career fair on Thursday, June 26 from 10 a.m. � 2 p.m. at the U.S. Army Reserve Center, Fort Gordon in Augusta, Ga.

The current participating agencies (GDC, Georgia National Guard, Department of Juvenile Justice, Department of Public Safety, Veterans Vocational Rehabilitation, Georgia Correctional Healthcare, DeKalb County Police Department, and Cobb County Department of Public Safety) have many jobs available for military personnel returning from duty. The list of participating agencies is subject to change before the day of the event, therefore we ask that you please check our agency's website at dcor.state.ga.us for an updated list.

This event is free and open to active duty and transitioning military personnel, National Guard personnel, and reservists.

"We are thrilled to be hosting a second Military Career Fair at Fort Gordon this year," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "Military veterans have the values and skills that we are looking for in future employees and it is imperative that we continue to work together to assist these brave men and women who selflessly serve and protect our country find employment."

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
