New Deputy Warden of Care & Treatment Named at Lee State Prison

Courtney Douglas Promoted

Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Courtney Douglas to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Lee State Prison effective February 16, 2014. The facility is located in Leesburg, Georgia. As Deputy Warden, Douglas will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of medical, mental health, education and counseling services of 762 medium security male inmates.

"Courtney has gained invaluable knowledge and experience during her eight years with the Department," said Commissioner Owens. "We look forward to the leadership she will bring to Lee State Prison in her new role."

Douglas began her career with the Department in 2006 as a Counselor at Autry State Prison. While at Autry, Douglas also served as the STG Coordinator. In 2012, she was promoted to Chief Counselor at Rutledge State Prison, where she most recently served.

Douglas received a Bachelor and Master of Science in Criminal Justice from Albany State University. She has completed Basic Management Training and the Corrections Leadership Institute. She is currently awaiting acceptance into the Doctorate of Public Administration program at Valdosta State University.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
