New Chief Probation Officer Named For Paulding Judicial Circuit

Marnesha Oliver Promoted
Forsyth - Georgia Department of Corrections Commissioner Brian Owens announced the promotion of Marnesha Oliver to Chief Probation Officer for the Paulding Judicial Circuit effective July 1, 2013. Oliver will be responsible for the oversight of 15 staff members and the supervision of felony probationers in the Paulding Judicial Circuit.
"Marnesha is a dedicated and invaluable employee to the Probation Operations division," said Commissioner Brian Owens. "Her leadership will be a value to the staff and probationers in her new circuit."
Oliver began her career with the Department in 2011 as a Probation Officer I in the Central DeKalb Probation Office. In 2004, she transferred to the Dallas Probation Office where she assumed standard and high caseloads while being a part of the Court team. Oliver transferred to the Atlanta Judicial Circuit in 2007, where she was a part of the Revocation team and later assumed the duties of a Sex Offender Probation Officer. In 2010, she was promoted to a Probation Officer III in the Atlanta Judicial Circuit. During this time, she worked closely with the Atlanta Community Impact Program and was the Physical Fitness Coordinator for the circuit. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from Morris Brown College and has completed Basic Management Training, Advance Management Training and Pre-Command. She is currently enrolled in Corrections Leadership Institute.
The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 60,000 state prisoners and more than 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
