Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,904 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On June 12 at Calhoun State Prison, a traffic stop was conducted near the facility. A search of the vehicle found an unknown package of contraband and a drone. Civilians Zacarious Sanders and Ashley Mathis were arrested and transported to the Morgan County Jail.
On June 11 at Rogers State Prison, Visitor Arelezah Hightower arrived to the facility for visitation and could not clear metal. A search found vials of an unknown liquid on her person. Civilian Hightower was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
On June 11 at Rogers State Prison, Visitor Michelle Shearouse arrived to the facility for visitation and could not clear the front entry. A search found tobacco on her person. Shearouse was arrested and transported to the Tattnall County Jail.
