Contraband Arrest at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,895 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On May 21 at Dooly State Prison, Visitor Jacqueline Cooper entered the facility for visitation when security staff noticed a strong smell of marijuana on her person. A search found bags of marijuana on her persons. Cooper was arrested and transported to the Dooly County Jail.
On May 16 at Washington State Prison, a vehicle was observed parked near the facility. Further investigation found Civilian Demonica Harris had thrown out a bag of unknown contraband onto facility grounds. Harris was arrested and transported to the Washington County Jail.
