Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,402 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On April 27 at Johnson State Prison, Timothy Angland was apprehended inside of the wooded area near the facility. He was attempting to drop off packages containing contraband. Civilian Angland was transported to Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.
On April 27 at Washington State Prison, security staff found packages containing contraband behind the dormitories. This discovery led to the arrest of civilian Jennifer Berno and ex-offenders Michael Foster and Richard Howard. The packages were wrapped in tape and consisted of tobacco, marijuana, ecstasy pills, cell phones, chargers, charging bases, cologne, earbuds, fingernail clippers, and USB cords. All three civilians were all transported to Washington County Jail.
