Contraband Arrest at Autry State Prison
As of July 2010, The GDC Office of Professional Standards, in conjunction with local & federal law enforcement partners, have investigated or arrested approximately 1,398 staff and civilians for introducing contraband into prisons throughout the state.
On March 29 at Autry State Prison, civilian Norman Weaver was discovered laying on the ground behind the facility. A bag was discovered beside him containing the following contraband: marijuana, tobacco, cellphones, lighters, phone chargers, earbuds, and oxycodone pills. Norman Weaver was arrested and taken to the Mitchell County Jail.
