New Deputy Warden of Security at Lee State Prison

Martin Jones Promoted
FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Martin Jones to Deputy Warden of Security at Lee State Prison (SP) effective January 1, 2023. As Deputy Warden of Security, Jones will be responsible for overseeing security staff members and 730 medium security male offenders at the facility.
"Jones has been a dedicated leader in each position he has held," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience that will benefit the staff and offenders at Lee SP and ensure our mission of public safety is continued to be carried out."
Jones began his career with the GDC in 2003 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia SP. He was promoted to Sergeant at Autry SP in 2016 and Captain at Calhoun SP in 2018. In 2019, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Central SP, and in 2021 he was reassigned to Calhoun SP, where he currently serves.
Martin received his associate's and bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Phoenix. His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Special Operations (CERT/TACT) Basic Training, Sergeants Academy, Chief of Security Academy, Basic Management, Supervision I, II, and III, and Deputy Warden of Security Training.
