Tracy McIntyre Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Tracy McIntyre to superintendent of McEver Probation Detention Center (PDC), effective June 1, 2019. In this role, McIntyre will be responsible for overseeing approximately 60 staff members and 250 minimum-security male detainees.

“With more than 20 years of service to the department, McIntyre has proven himself to be an exceptional leader,” Ward said. “We are confident that his experience and knowledge of corrections will have a positive impact on the staff and offenders at McEver PDC.”

McIntyre began his career with the GDC in 1996 as a correctional officer at Dooly State Prison (SP). During his tenure at Dooly SP, he was promoted through the ranks of sergeant, lieutenant, and chief of security. He was a member of the Tactical Squad and Correctional Emergency Response Team (CERT). McIntyre was the assistant commander of the tactical squad, where he served as a squad leader during the 2004 G8 Summit in Sea Island.  In 2011, he was promoted to unit manager at Macon SP and in 2015, he was promoted to deputy warden of security at Burruss Correctional Training Center. McIntyre transferred to the Georgia Diagnostic and Classification Prison as deputy warden of security in 2018, where he currently serves. 

McIntyre has an Associate of Science in Law Enforcement and a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from Thomas University. He has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Basic Management Training, the Professional Management Program through Columbus State University, Advanced Management Training, Supervision III, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, Wardens Pre-Command, POST Instructor Training and POST Firearms Instructor Training.
