Wanda Brown Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Wanda Brown to Superintendent at Lee Arrendale Transitional Center (TC) effective May 1, 2019. As superintendent, Brown will be responsible for overseeing 28 staff members and 112 medium security female residents.

“Brown has been an asset to the department since she joined us in 2000,” Ward said. “We are confident that under her leadership and management the staff and residents will excel.”

Brown joined GDC in 2000 as a Secretary at Lee Arrendale State Prison (SP). In 2013, she was promoted to Behavioral Health Counselor II and to a Behavioral Health Counselor III in 2016. Brown was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Lee Arrendale TC in 2018, where she currently serves.  

Brown received her associate degree at Georgia Southern University and her bachelor of science degree in sociology with a minor in criminal justice from Piedmont College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Counselor Training, Basic Management Training, Supervision I, II & III, Counselor Supervisor’s Training, and  Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training.
