Torrenzo Brayboy Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Timothy C. Ward announced the promotion of Torrenzo Brayboy to Superintendent at Atlanta Transitional Center (TC) effective January 16, 2021. As Superintendent, Brayboy will be responsible for overseeing approximately 51 staff members and 275 male residents.

“Brayboy has demonstrated outstanding leadership skills in each position he has held,” said Commissioner Timothy C. Ward. “We are confident that his knowledge and passion will positively impact the staff and residents at Atlanta TC.”

Brayboy began his career with the department in 2007 as a Counselor at Metro State Prison (SP), where he served until 2011 when he transferred to Southwest Atlanta Probation Office as a Probation Officer. At the end of 2011, he returned to the department as a Counselor at Phillips State Prison.  He transferred to Metro TC and Clayton TC, serving as a Counselor at both locations. In 2017, he was promoted to Senior Counselor at Metro Reentry Facility, and in 2019 he was promoted to Chief Counselor at the same facility. In 2020, he was promoted to Unit Manager at Metro Reentry Facility, where he currently serves.

Brayboy holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology through Tuskegee University and a Master’s degree in General Counseling from Alabama State University. His departmental training consists of Basic Management Training, Supervision I, II, and II, and Management I, II, and III.
