Paul Grieco Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Paul Grieco to Private Prison Monitor at Coffee Correctional Facility in Nicholls, Ga, effective September 16, 2018. As Private Prison Monitor, Grieco will be monitoring the facility’s operations, to ensure that all contract conditions are met and that the facility operates with a continuous focus on sanitation, safety and security.

“Grieco has shown exceptional leadership skills in his 30 years with the agency,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozer. “I am confident that his knowledge and professionalism will serve him well in his new position.” 

Grieco began his career with the GDC in 1988 as a Correctional Officer at Georgia State Prison. He was promoted to Counselor Associate and later promoted to Counselor, working primarily in the high max unit. In 1995, he transferred to Ware State Prison as a Counselor and also served as a statewide Hostage Negotiator. In 2005, he transferred to the Bacon Probation Detention Center as a Counselor and was then promoted to Assistant Superintendent in 2016. He has served as Superintendent at the Long Unit since 2018.

Grieco received his bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science from Armstrong State College and a master’s degree in Public Administration (Justice Administration) through Columbus State University. He has completed the following departmental training:  Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), Executive Basic Correctional Officer Training (EBCOT), Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program (PMP), Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, Executive Leadership Training, Warden’s Pre-Command and Warden’s Assessment through the University of Georgia.
