FORSYTH, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) is investigating the death of an inmate at Georgia State Prison in Reidsville, Ga.

On June 27 at approximately 3:45 a.m., Correctional Officers found inmate Michael Jordan (GDC #1223088) unresponsive in his cell. Prison medical staff attempted to revive him but were unsuccessful, and Jordan was pronounced deceased at 4:24 a.m. by facility physician Dr. Occhipinti. GDC is conducting an investigation into the death, as standard procedure.

Jordan was sentenced to life without parole for murder in Clayton County. Further information can be found on the GDC website at http://www.gdc.ga.gov.
