Carmon Edwards Assigned

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the assignment of Carmon Edwards to Deputy Warden of Administration at Lee Arrendale State Prison (SP), effective July 1st. As Deputy Warden, Edwards will be responsible for overseeing the Business Office, Property/Supply Operations and Food Service departments at the facility which houses over 1,700 medium and close security female offenders.

“Edwards is a dedicated 20-year employee who has excelled in each role she has held with the department,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are confident that her leadership will be a great asset to Lee Arrendale State Prison.”

Edwards began her career with the GDC in 1998 as a Clerk II at Lee Arrendale SP. During her time at Lee Arrendale SP, she served as a Correctional Officer, Secretary II, Operations Analysis Technician and Financial Ops Generalist. She was later promoted to the Business Manager at Phillips State Prison, where she has served since 2017.

Edwards received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Thomas University and an associate of applied science degree in Network Administration from North Georgia Technical College. She has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training (BCOT), POST General Instructor Training, Basic Management Training (BMT), Professional Management Program (PMP), Primary Governmental Accounting Program and State Financial Management Certificate Program.
