Dr. Angela C. Williams promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. -- Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier announced the promotion of Dr. Angela C. Williams to Deputy Director of Facilities Administration/Support, effective July 1, 2018. As Deputy Director, Williams will manage the Field Services Unit and Special Projects Unit, as well as the Communicators Center for Facilities Administration Support Division. She will also assist the Director in the oversight of daily operations for the Division.

“Over the past 18 years, Dr. Williams has been a valuable member of the GDC team,” said Commissioner Gregory C. Dozier. “We are confident that her skills and experience will serve the agency well in her new position.”

Williams began her career with the GDC in 2000 at Calhoun State Prison as a Counselor. From 2001 to 2008, she served as a Probation Officer, and was then promoted to Program Development Consultant of the Sex Offender Administration Unit.  Williams transferred to Autry State Prison in 2009 and served as the Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment, followed by her appointment as Warden of Burruss Correctional Training Center in 2012.  In 2013, she was promoted to Deputy Personnel Director of Corrections Human Resources Management.  In 2014, she transferred to Facility Operations as a Management Specialist, and in October 2016, she was promoted to Manager of the Special Projects Unit, where she most recently served.

Williams holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Albany State University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Columbus State University. She earned her Doctorate in Organizational Leadership from the University of Phoenix and has completed Basic Probation Officer Training, Basic Management Training, Wardens Pre-Command, Georgia Law Enforcement Command College, POST IT Training, and Corrections Leadership Institute.
