Contraband Arrests at Hays SP and Wilcox SP

On July 15 at Hays SP, Civilian Justin Young attempted to enter the facility in a U-Haul truck. After the truck was searched, the following items were found: 19 coolers, 3 cases of powdered Gatorade, and 44 cases of bottled Gatorade. The items were sent through the X-ray machine, and security staff could see items hidden in the lids of the coolers. The contraband consisted of the following:  1,654 grams of marijuana and 618 sheets of paper soaked in an unknown substance. Civilian Young was arrested by the Chattooga County Sheriff's Department.

On July 12 at Wilcox SP, the GDC canine unit observed an individual near the facility.  A search of the area was conducted, and one suspect was apprehended, along with one large bag. The contents inside of the bag were 280 grams of ecstasy, 770 grams of marijuana, 3966 grams of tobacco, 6 cellphones, miscellaneous clothing items, miscellaneous vitamins and pills, 14 charging cables, 20 headphones, 5 vapes, 3 earbuds, 1 charging block, 46 Bugler rolling packs, 1 hammer, 3 chisels, 10 tubes of J-B Weld glue and 1 tube of Gorilla glue. The suspect was later identified as Anthony Harding. Wilcox County Sheriff's Office was notified, and Civilian Anthony Harding was transported to Wilcox County Detention Center with charges pending.
