Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On August 4 at Telfair SP, Telfair County Sheriff's Office observed 2 unknown civilians near the facility. The GDC Canine Unit responded to the area and detained Civilians Shay'keiria Shark, Alonzo Allen, Willis Herschel, and Darrell McClendon, recovering a backpack. The backpack contained 35 blunt wrappers, 8 charging cords, 19 lighters, 1 apple air tag, 2 pairs of air pods, 3 charging blocks, 3 hot spots, 10 cellphones, 3 sim cards, 1 cool fan, 1 pair of shoes, 670 grams of marijuana, 734 grams of tobacco, and miscellaneous clothing. The Telfair County Sheriff's Office arrested the civilians and took them to Telfair County Jail with pending charges.

On August 5 at Central SP,  the GDC Canine Unit notified the facility that a vehicle was stopped near the facility. The vehicle was searched, and 1 drone and a large bag of unidentified contraband were found in their possession. The 2 unidentified occupants were arrested by Bibb County Sheriff's Office and transported to Bibb County Jail with charges pending.

On August 8 at Washington SP, security saw 2 civilians running towards the facility. The Washington County Sheriff's Office was notified, and upon search of the area, Civilians D'Angelo Boss and Baron Farris were detained, and 1 bag was recovered. The bag contained 1 pound of tobacco, 9 cellphones, 1 hotspot, 1 pair of socks, 1 saw blade, 5 vape pens, 4 earbuds, 2 speakers, and 1 charging cord. Civilians Boss and Farris were arrested and taken to the Washington County Sheriff's Office pending charges.

On August 8 at Washington SP, the Washington County Sheriff's Office observed 4 unknown civilians near the facility. Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the area, and civilians Pamela Roanokes, Rashaun Wright, Regina McDowell, and Octavius Ashe were arrested and transported to Washington County Jail with pending charges.

On August 8 at Baldwin SP, the GDC canine unit observed several unknown civilians near the facility. Security staff also observed a drone hovering over the facility. The Milledgeville Police Department was notified and responded to the area. Upon arrival, civilians Iyare Egonmwan, Travontay Fleetwood, Keyonia Green, and Evondre Daniels were detained. A search of the area was conducted, and an unknown amount of marijuana, oxycodone, drone batteries, duct tape, and 1 drone with a controller were located. The civilians were arrested and transported to Baldwin County Jail with pending charges.

On August 9 at Telfair SP, the GDC Canine Unit observed 2 suspicious individuals near the facility. The Canine Unit detained Civilians Gabriel McCoy and Anthony Gulley, along with 2 packages. The packages contained the following contraband: 41 cellphones, 8,214 grams of tobacco, 1,921.6 grams of cannabis-infused candy, 112 grams of cannabis flowers, 4 pre-rolled THC blunts, 12 THC vapes, 1 bag of rolling papers, 54 charging cords, 28 charging blocks, 39 vapes, 2 speakers with chargers, 2 personal cellphones, 3 Apple AirTags, 113.5 grams of mushroom candy, and 4,000 grams of psilocybin mushrooms. Civilians McCoy and Gulley were taken into custody by the Telfair County Sheriff's Office with charges pending.

On August 16 at Wilcox SP,  the GDC Canine Unit arrested Civilian Richard Edwards and Jasmine White near the city limits in Abbeville for introducing contraband into the facility. The contraband consisted of the following:  1 handgun and ammo, 1 Drone, 6 drone batteries, 1 drone controller, 849 grams of marijuana, 1,630 grams of tobacco, 5 cellphones, 3 grams of ecstasy, 1 digital scale, 1 blunt spray, 2 JB Welds, 1 power bank, 1 Speaker, 2 saw blades, 3 wrenches, 10 packs of rolling paper, 1 pack of Black and Milds, 4 charging cords and miscellaneous clothing items.

On August 21 at Telfair SP, GED Instructor Valerie Toole was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff's Office after leads were developed by GDC OPS for crossing the guard line with prohibited items, sexual battery, and personal dealings with an offender. Also,Officer Amber St. Laurent was arrested by Telfair County Sheriff's Office after leads were developed by GDC OPS for crossing the guard line with prohibited items, sexual battery, and personal dealings with offenders. 

On August 22 at Washington SP, security staff spotted 1 civilian near the facility. The Washington County Sheriff's Office was notified, and upon searching the area, Civilian Tevin Bryson was detained.  A search of the perimeter was conducted, and 1 bag of contraband was recovered.  Civilian Bryson was arrested and taken to the Washington County Sheriff's Office pending charges. 

On August 23 at Central SP, security staff observed a drone flying over the facility. The Bibb County Sheriff's Office located a vehicle near the facility. The vehicle was searched, and 1 drone and a battery were found in their possession. The 2 occupants were arrested by Bibb County Sheriff's Office and transported to Bibb County Jail with charges pending.  
On August 23 at Washington SP, the Washington County Sheriff's Office observed 2 civilian males fleeing from near the facility. In the woods near the facility, a package was recovered by GDC K-9 and the Washington County Sheriff's Office. The package contained the following contraband: 958 grams of tobacco, 6 cell phones, 1 cell phone case, 3 charging blocks, 8 charging cables, 1 pair of ear buds, 5 packs of rolling paper, 2 wireless speakers, 3 hacksaw blades, 1 gold pocketknife, 0 pairs of shorts, and 10 pairs of socks. Civilians Ajee Kennedy, Demetrious Lee, and an unidentified male were detained by the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
