Contraband Arrests at Multiple State Prisons

On May 3 at Telfair SP, the GDC canine unit observed 2 civilians near the facility and notified the Telfair County Sheriff's Office. The GDC canine unit conducted a search of the wood line, apprehending 2 civilians with 2 duffle bags and a mesh bag. The following contraband was found: 8032 grams of tobacco, 9075 grams of marijuana, 40 cellphones,28 charging cords, 11 charging blocks, 8 packs of rolling paper, 1 SIM card, 4 THC oils, 2 wireless hot spots, 2 scales, 4 bottles of promethazine, 1 machete knife, 1 bolt cutter, and 2 fingernail clippers. Telfair County Sheriff's Office located the vehicle associated with the drop with 3 civilians: Santana Jones, Kellie Price, Davard Malcom, Dawou Pain, and Javon Lyon. The civilians were apprehended and transported to Telfair County Sheriff's Office with pending charges.

On May 4 at Dodge SP, after an investigation was conducted by the Office of Professional Standards, Officer Alisha Coleman was arrested by Dodge County Sheriff's Office with pending charges.

On May 8 at Mcrae Women's Facility, after leads were developed by the Office of Professional Standards, Commissary Supervisor Shayla Smith confessed to personal dealing with multiple offenders.  Supervisor Smith was arrested and taken into custody by the McRae-Helena Police Department with pending charges. 

On May 9 at Telfair SP, security staff observed 3 civilians throwing contraband over the fence. The GDC Canine Unit and Telfair County Sheriff's Office was notified and conducted a search of the area and detained 3 civilians with 1 handgun. The Civilians were identified as Orlandis Cousins, Tyrone Brown, and Xavier Ryshon. 5 packages were recovered, which consisted of the following: 2,592 grams of tobacco, 12 grams of marijuana, 17 charging blocks, 15 charging cords, 5 cellphones, 5 packs of banana cakes, 1 bottle of alcohol, 34 packs of rolling paper, 1 pair of earbuds and 4 packs of cigarettes. Civilians Cousins, Brown and Ryshone were arrested and taken to the Telfair County Sheriff's Office with pending charges.

On May 10 at Hancock SP, 2 civilians, later identified as Marquel Amis and Dario Charles, were spotted near the facility. The GDC K9 Unit and Hancock County Sheriff's Office were notified and found contraband that consisted of the following: 40 cell phones, 39 charging cords, 2 hotspots, 4 earbuds, 11 charging blocks, 2 sim card keys, 1 phone case, 11 packs of rolling paper, 6 packs of pills, 2 bottles of supplement, 3 cans of dog spray, 1 gaiter, 2 pairs of underwear, 1 outfit, 10,828 grams of tobacco, 281 grams of marijuana, 5 bottles of promethazine, 8 bottles of unknown liquor, 1 bag of unknown substance,  and 1 pair shoes. An emergency count was conducted at 2237 hours and cleared at 2323 hours. Hancock County Sheriff's Office arrested both civilians with charges pending.

On May 11 at Washington SP, an unknown individual was spotted near the facility. The GDC K9 Unit and The Washington County Sherriff's Office were notified, and upon search of the area, Civilian Alonso Holiday was detained with contraband. The contraband consisted of the following: 37 cellphones, 33 charging blocks, 2 speakers, 41 cables, 11,776 grams of tobacco, 309 grams of MDMA, 60 packs of rolling paper, 10 earbuds, 3 pairs of underwear, 1 pair of shoes,  55 THC vape pens, 46 lighters, 3 SIM cards, 3,111 grams of marijuana, 994 grams of edibles, 2 bag sealers, 2 cut open basketballs, 1 bottle of Zyrtec, HGH Boost, Rogaine, and SST- V2X. Civilian Holiday was arrested and taken to the Washington County Sherriff's Office pending charges.

On May 26 at Rogers SP, Civilian Tyiesha Wilson was observed near the facility. The Office of Professional Standards and Tattnall County Sheriff's Office were notified and conducted a search of the area. The following contraband was found: 1260 grams of tobacco,51.8 grams of marijuana, 4 eggs with rolling paper, and 1 egg filled with wraps. Civilian Wilson was arrested and taken to Tattnall County Jail with the charges pending.

On May 27 at Washington SP, the GDC Canine Unit was alert to suspicious activity near the facility. The Canine Unit and Washington County Sheriff's Office responded to the area and arrested Civilian Maurice Stewart. A black bookbag was recovered with the following contraband: 840 grams of marijuana, 1815 grams of tobacco, 1 headphone, 7 charging cables, 4 charging blocks, 5 cellphones, 1 personal cellphone of the civilian, and 2 bottles of promethazine.

On May 27 at Macon SP, the GDC Canine Unit was alerted to 2 subjects near the facility. They located  6 black bags of contraband, which consisted of 2,299 grams of marijuana, 1,956 grams of tobacco, 32 cell phones, 12 charging blocks, 31 charging cords, 01 pair of earbuds, 01 USB drive, 01 pair of shoes, 01 wallet with 420 counterfeit bills in 20's and 143 dollars of legal cash. Civilian Kenyatta Dewese and Jayden Garcia were located and arrested by the Macon County Sheriff's Office.
