New Special Assistant to the Warden at Smith State Prison

Curtis Todd Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Curtis Todd, Superintendent at Emanuel Probation Detention Center (PDC), to Special Assistant to the Warden at Smith State Prison (SP), effective February 1, 2025. As Special Assistant to the Warden, Todd will assist the Warden with the daily operations of the facility and management of staff and offenders.

“Curtis has been a dedicated team member and exceptional leader during his tenure with the agency,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to seeing him continue to excel as he applies his wealth of knowledge to the efficient operations as Special Assistant to the Warden at Smith SP.”

Todd began his career in 2013 as a Correctional Officer at Smith Transitional Center (TC) and was promoted to Sergeant at the facility in 2018. In 2019, he transferred to Rogers State Prison (SP) as Sergeant and returned to Smith TC in the same position in 2020. He was then promoted to Lieutenant at Smith TC in 2020, and in 2022, he was promoted to Assistant Superintendent at Emanuel PDC and Smith Transitional Center. In 2024, he was promoted to Superintendent at Emanuel PDC, where he currently serves.  

Todd attended Ogeechee Technical College, where he obtained a diploma in wildlife management.  His departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I, II, and III, Sergeant Academy, Lieutenant Academy, Chief of Security Academy, Mental Health Training, Assistant Superintendent Training, and Effective Communication.
