Asia Cliett Promoted 

FORSYTH, Ga. –  The Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Asia Cliett, Unit Manager at Washington State Prison (SP), to Assistant Superintendent at Augusta Transitional Center effective October 16, 2024. As Assistant Superintendent, Cliett will be responsible for assisting the Superintendent with the daily operations of the facility, overseeing staff, and supervising approximately 224 male residents.

"Asia has been a dedicated employee with a remarkable work ethic while working her way up the ranks," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are confident that her correctional knowledge will benefit the staff and offenders in her new role as Assistant Superintendent."

Cliett began her career with the department in 2005 as a Correctional Officer at Rivers SP and was promoted to Sergeant in 2008. Upon the closing of Rivers SP, she transferred to Baldwin SP. In 2018, she was promoted to Sergeant at Washington SP and to Lieutenant in 2020. In 2021, she was promoted to Chief of Security at Johnson SP, and in 2022, she was promoted to Unit Manager, where she currently serves.  

Cliett's departmental training consists of Basic Correctional Officer Training, Supervision I and II, Sergeants Academy, and Field Training Officer.
