Sandi West Promoted

FORSYTH, Ga. – Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Tyrone Oliver announced the promotion of Sandi West, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment/Security to Warden at Rogers State Prison (SP), effective June 16, 2024. As Warden, West will be responsible for overseeing all staff members and approximately 1,453 medium-security male offenders.

 “Sandi has been an exceptional leader and dedicated staff member throughout her 28-year career with the GDC,” said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “We look forward to her continued commitment to uphold the GDC mission as she takes on her new role as Warden at Rogers SP.”

West began her career with the GDC in 1996 as a Correctional Officer at Smith SP.  During her tenure at Smith SP, she rose through the ranks, being promoted to Sergeant in 2003, Lieutenant in 2011, and Unit Manager in 2016.  She was promoted to Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment at Montgomery SP in 2018, and in 2020, she was promoted to Superintendent at Women’s Probation Detention Center, where she currently serves.  

West has completed the following departmental training: Basic Correctional Officer Training, Sergeants Academy, Basic Management Training, Professional Management Program, Effective Communication, Fire Inspector, Deputy Warden of Care and Treatment Academy, Deputy Warden of Security Academy, and Warden’s Pre-Command.
