Increases Current Bed Capacity to 100

FORSYTH, Ga. –  On March 28, 2023, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held to mark the opening of a new 50-bed dorm on the property of the existing Bacon Probation Detention Center (PDC)/Transitional Center (TC) in Alma, Georgia. The addition will increase the TC’s current capacity to 100 male residents.

"We are thankful for the community partnerships that have assisted in the culmination of this day," said Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. "We are proud and excited for the opportunity to be a part of the economic growth within the county and provide tools and resources for the TC residents as they complete their path to becoming productive citizens."

Bacon TC boasts a 100% employment rate for residents, and provides programs such as OSHA 10 training and Employer Expectations through a partnership with Wiregrass Technical College.

Transitional Centers promote public safety through collaborative partnerships, support offender placement into evidence-based interventions, and reflect a seamless reentry system that assists returning offenders in becoming law-abiding, productive community citizens.
