Dawn Corbin Promoted

FORSYTH, GA. — Georgia Department of Corrections (GDC) Commissioner Homer Bryson announced the promotion of Dawn Corbin to Chief Probation Officer of the Alcovy Judicial Circuit, effective February 16, 2015. As Chief Probation Officer, Corbin will be responsible for overseeing the operation of probation offices in Walton and Newton counties.

“Dawn has proven herself as a leader during her tenure as a supervisor,” said Commissioner Homer Bryson. “We look forward to her continued success in her new role as Chief Probation Officer.”

Corbin began her career with the Department of Corrections in 1997 as a Probation Officer in the Lawrenceville Probation Office. During her time in Lawrenceville, she supervised a High caseload and worked as an Intensive Probation Officer until her promotion to Probation Officer III in 2007. Dawn transferred to the Alcovy Circuit in December 2013 to serve as Probation Officer III in the Monroe Probation Office, where she most recently served.

Dawn graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.  Her departmental training includes Basic Probation/Parole Officer Training, POST Instructor, Basic Management and Advanced Management training, Pre-Command and Corrections Leadership Institute.

The GDC has one of the largest prison systems in the U.S. and is responsible for supervising nearly 55,000 state prisoners
and over 160,000 probationers. It is the largest law enforcement agency in the state with approximately 12,000 employees.
